What is Stretching?
Stretching can be defined as pushing your body to the limits in terms of flexibility.
Stretching can be very beneficial but it can depend on your goal...
Example: when an individual has a muscle growth goal, he is advised to do proper stretching after the workout.
Many people ask why so?
It is advised this way because when you do proper stretching before the workout, it takes up your strength & your performance decrease. As stretching is intense and difficult in its own way.

As this all depends on what type pf goal you have. If u have a goal other than muscle growth, you may just do stretching before the workout.
There are various types of stretching but i am only going to discuss which matters the most:
1. Static stretching.
2. Dynamic stretching.
Static stretching focuses on stretching a specific muscle or group of muscle to the furthest point it can go and hold for about 30 seconds to a minute.
As per my opinion if u have a goal of muscle gaining/growth then static stretching SHOULD BE DONE AFTER THE WORKOUT.
2. Dynamic stretching:
Dynamic stretching focuses on moving the parts of the body and gradually increasing the pace, reach and speed In order to warm up the joints. E.g. leg swings & arm swings.
Many people confused which stretching should be done before workout.
As per my advice "Dynamic stretching" should be done before the workout as this type doesn't decreases your energy level and warm up the joints.
Benefits of stretching overall:
. Decrease risk of Injury.
. Improve performance in physical activity.
. Increases muscle blood flow.
. Have healthier joints.
. Improves posture.
. Decreases your stress.
